At long last, we're back with our monthly AC Shop Rides! On Sunday, August 8th, we're getting back at it with a stellar 35-mile mixed terrain Marin lap. Meet up at the shop at 8:00 AM for coffee and light snacks, and we'll roll out at 8:30 sharp.
With a healthy road to dirt split, the route is an all-roader's dream. The optimal set-up would be a fat-tire road bike or a gravel bike with thick slicks, though if you're not super confident on your dirt skills, a knobby tire would be ace. For brave riders, the route is certainly doable on a road bike, but beware that some of the dirt climbs get steep and loose, so you'll want some reasonable gear range.
Be sure to come prepared with a bike in good working order, your helmet, an ample supply of water and snacks, and a repair kit to service any flat tires or road/trailside mechanicals. While we'll do our best to keep everyone together, we highly recommend downloading the route to your GPS device in case you get separated from the pack.
If you can't make this one, don't fret, there will be plenty more on tap. Each month we will embark on a new route of varying terrain and difficulty.
