Long live the aluminum rim brake road bike! This week we're thrilled to share one of our latest Pegoretti creation: A stunning white Love #3, hand crafted in typically Italian fashion, and completed here at AC with a tastefully detailed build. Follow along to see how we configured this beautiful machine.
The Frame
Aluminum has always been the underdog in the handbuilt frame world, but with the right tubing in the hands of right builder, it makes for one incredible ride. Pegoretti's have always been know for their oversized tubing, but the Love #3's massive alloy tubes and adjoining welds, really set their aluminum model apart. This one was painted in the brand's Saporito paint scheme, a relatively new offering from the Pegoretti studio that features a sparse, delimited graphic over a clean white base.
The Cockpit
Steering on this build is handled by a Enve carbon bar and stem. Light and forgiving, it's always a top choice around here. The drops are wrapped in Deda bar tape, with a nice pop of red under the perforated black. At the back, a Deda Superleggero post supports a Fizik Arione VS 00 saddle.
The Drivetrain
A mechanical Super Record drivetrain is the perfect set up on this classic Italian ride. Obviously the performance is superb, but we love how the subtle red graphics tie in with both the rest stripes in the paint and the red accents of the bar tape. Neat, clean, and perfect as can be.
The Wheels
In many ways, the #3 is a love letter to a simpler time, an era of pure speed and design simplicity that thankfully still persists at Pegoretti to this day. To pay homage to that period but still keep things modern, it only made sense to build this bike with Mavic Ksyrium Pro Carbon wheels, the modern carbon update to the ubiquitous box section, alloy spoked wheels of the early aughts. These were only shortly available in a rim braked variant, but luckily we happened to have a set on hand.
If we're honest, we didn't want to let these one roll out of the studio - it looks too good. But while the Love #3 is a rarity on the road, the great news is that as of last year, it's now back in production at Pegoretti. In fact, this model is one of the very first of the 'New Love' #3s that came out of Pegoretti's Verona 'Bottega' this past year.
