BOTW: A Mosaic GT-1/AR Stealth

The latest entry to our Bike Of The Week (BOTW) is something new /not new. In mid-2021, ENVE had their Grodeo show, showcasing its brand new fully integrated cockpit. So, of course, we had scores of cyclists who wanted to clean up their front end by using these new bars shown on all sorts of bikes throughout the show. However, it turned out that the bars (forks and headsets) were not ready to ship for at least a year - not that we knew it then. We were still able to get our hands on the fork, but we spent a lot of time trying multiple headsets and bars that would work to complete the project. In the end, it all worked out, and you can see the end result here. As far as we know, this was the first rideable, fully internal system using the new ENVE fork.

But now, it's the 'official' - if not very hard to get - fully internal system using all the ENVE components and, soon, the Chris King headset to accompany it. We've got a few of these kicking around the shop, waiting for a part or two to come to completion, but this is the first one in all its glory. 


This is the Mosaic GT-1/AR fully integrated frameset. The AR means All Road, and we built it around ENVE's new fork and bar/stem combination and uses the Token headset, though we do have the new Chris King system on the way to complete this project. The bike is meant to work with up to 35c tires, perfect for events with harder pack dirt and beat-up paved roads. It also uses a 27.2mm seat post to tame all vibrations from the rear end. We kept this one simple and clean with just a hand-brushed finish and matte black painted cockpit pieces (the seat post is a stock one while we wait for the cleaner one without logos to get here). 

Regarding the ENVE one-piece bar/stem, which looks super clean, it should also be noted that we can use other one-piece combinations or the more traditional two-piece system from ENVE as well, which will undoubtedly be more readily available for the foreseeable future.


We used the new (can we still call it new?) Shimano Dura-Ace groupset for this bike. This is the lightest group of the big three (SRAM and Campagnolo being the other two) options, and now with 12 cogs on the cassette, it matches the gearing range of them as well. A notable exception is the SRM power meter instead of the standard aluminum Dura-Ace crankset. This is the SRM Origin PM9 with a 24mm titanium (read; light) axle and Look crank arms that allow you to choose between 170, 172.5 and 175mm length arms. It also uses a lid that seamlessly integrates with the stock Dura-Ace chainrings for perfect shifting up front.


As stated before, we're using the one-piece ENVE bar/stem combo with their new fork and Token headset, which allows us to hide all the cables inside the frame. The bars look great and neatly integrate the computer mount into the fold. As we said, we'll swap out the Token headset for the Chris King unit shortly. The new headset will be entirely matte black, a little cleaner than the current gloss cups with the matte top cap. The seating components consist of ENVE's 27.2 post and a MOST saddle. For getting the power to the rear wheel, we used Shimano Dura-Ace pedals


We went top of the range here with the Lightweight Pfadfinders. This is an ideal set-up for the kind of riding this bike will be put through. Super stiff wheels when accelerating hard but still comfortable enough to handle the dirt, gravel and beat-up roads. They are not as wide as some of the other gravel offerings, but that is not really needed when running up to a max of 35c tires. Those tires are Rene Herse Bon Jon's, which measure 700X35c. We used the standard casing, which has proved burly enough for the worst roads out there. The Superlight option is there as well when the conditions permit. We're running these tubeless, but they work great as clinchers with the hook bead rims.


There are lots of nice extras on this bike, starting with the Ceramicspeed Oversized Pulley Wheels (OSPW) and coated bottom bracket. The chain has been stripped of all the stock lubricants and waxed with Silca's Super Secret chain wax. Every bolt and fastener that can be swapped out for titanium has been, including the valve stems. Ceramicspeed bearings are also present in the hubs.
