Bike of the Week: Mosaic XT-1

Cyclocross season may have just ended, but who says a 'cross bike has to be limited to one racing season? While an endless array of bicycle sub-genres have emerged in recent years, there's no denying that a cross bike is the original Swiss Army-tool of a bike, capable of nearly any adventure thrown at it. This week we bring you a brand new XT-1 from Mosaic, fresh with the latest tech but true to classic Ti elegance.

We know the crew at Mosaic well. One thing we can say is that they like to ride hard, and know how to party while doing it. They're also deeply passionate about building bikes that can match their own demanding standards, and this XT-1 is a perfect example: Immaculate craftsmanship designed for years of abuse.

Not only is a bare titanium frame beautiful in its own right, it also allows freedom to play with color in the details. Ordinarily, any Chris King headset and bottom bracket are a great choice, but the turquoise bits look amazing.

It wasn't long ago that cantilever brakes were still prevalent on any bike with big tires. It's amazing how quickly they're becoming a novel memory of the past. We all know disc brakes have become the standard, but the standard keeps evolving. This XT-1 features front and rear thru-axles as well as road-specific flat mount brake calipers.

Gone are the days of quick-release skewers. Welcome are the neatly tucked-in flat mount calipers.

Today's 1x systems cover an impressive gear range while keeping aesthetics clean and simple, with the chain securely on the bike. The Di2 XTR rear derailleur has an impressively strong motor, ensuring perfect shifts no matter the conditions.

We've always loved Zipp's 303s, but we've been in need of a tubeless option on our disc-brake bikes. Finally, Zipp has an answer. The new purpose-built 303 Disc delivers. It looks incredible, while letting us run tubeless tires on a carbon Zipp rim. Wrapped in skin-wall slick 35mm Compass Bon Jon Pass tires, this bike will spin up fast.
