Prova’s Mostro is a fine titanium gravel bike, built to house big tires, refreshingly adaptable, with options for rack and pannier mounts, and as gorgeous to ride and admire as anything you could ever hope to take into the backcountry, or the bedlam of the city.
A few years ago, our client saw a Mostro in the AC studio and developed a terrific hankering for a handmade Australian masterpiece of his own. When he finally got the opportunity to own a Mostro, he told us that comfort and style were his top priorities. A custom geometry and the frameset's innate ride quality ensured the former; the latter came with.
Our client had a penchant for a clean finish, hence the frame’s simple, unadorned finish, with the builder’s logo on the down tube the only accent on an otherwise pared-back silhoutte.
To the build then, and an ENVE gravel fork that parts the waters, paired to a No22 titanium stem and matching computer mount doing a duet with a Black Inc. handlebar wrapped in Busyman Black over silver leather tape. Prova’s own titanium seatpost holds our hero in place, sitting pretty astride Bjorn’s Setka saddle.
Below the fold, a SRAM AXS 1x transmission rear derailleur holds the line, paired with titanium cranks and a front ring courtesy of Sturdy Cycles in the UK. Pedals are the Candy 11 model from Crank Brothers. Eagle-eyed followers of finely-wrought metal may notice the Sturdy titanium brake levers, which complete the contributions from the UK. If only they were as good at soccer. Too soon?
AC custom wheels complete the build, blending the wonderfully silent Onyx Vesper hubs, WeAreOne rims and white spokes from Berd. Panaracer’s GravelKing tires complete the build.
