Sarto's Raso Gravel is new to the market but not to Above Category. Several months ago, Sarto was good enough to send us an early prototype so we could ride it and give our feedback, which went on to inform the design of the frameset now launched to the wider world. We might say wider woods, as the Raso Gravel is a trail specialist - you may have got that from the name. What it's not is a bikepacking rig. Raso Gravel is all about pace - pure road speed and performance transposed to the world's fastest gravel races and routes.
The specs support this. Raso Gravel comes in two versions: 1x and 2x compatible, with clearance for up to 48mm tyres. And a second version, visually unchanged apart from some adaptions around the rear triangle to allow for up to 55mm (2.1") tires and a 1x 52T chaninring. The larger version is 1x only.
Raso Gravel inherits a lot of the aerodynamic development thinking that informed the design of the all-road Raso. Expect a streamlined shape, with optimized tubes and lines designed to slip through the air. It also brings the stares. Raso Gravel looks awesome. It inspires you to ride simply because it looks right and fast. And that, as AC's Chad has always said, is the best sort of beginning.
