Bike of the Week: A Mosaic All-Weather Warrior

Derek Yarra |

The past few weeks we've seen quite the the smattering of weather, at least here around our Bay Area HQ. Sudden downpours and bouts of 90mph winds overlapping with Sausalito's infamous King's Tide... While conditions have been demanding they've still been bearable to those wanting to get out on the road, especially when equipped with the right tools. These conditions have inspired us to showcase this Mosaic GT1, a bike that is the perfect tool.

A bike designed to handle grit and grime, but does so in the classiest of fashion. A beautiful matte navy finish, complemented with pops of silver, this bike is indeed a treat for the eyes.

The cockpit is all Zipp SL Speed. Light, stiff, and aesthetically compliments the bike. The matte clear over carbon finish is a great pairing to the matte paint, while the beefiness of the stem just fits in with the oversized tubing of the front triangle.

We mentioned this bike had class, right? Polished silver Chris King hubs and headset, just the right touch to pull out the polished Mosaic head badge and contrast the blue paint.

If there's one thing that takes a beating from wet and dirty conditions, it's traditional cable shift cables and housing. Eliminating the risk of gunking things up, we elected for an electronic drivetrain with hydraulic brakes. SRAM's Red eTap to be exact.

The practical yet classy approach continues to the wheels. Zipp 202s are the rims of choice. Lightweight, tubeless compatible, and a shallower cross section to manage heavy cross winds. The Chris King R45s are laced with matching silver spokes and nipples. Schwalbe G-One tires offer an elevated level of traction and durability when the roads get covered with debris.

The beauty of a bike like a GT1 is the allowance for full coverage fenders. Any measures to keep your chamois and feet dry make a huge difference in keeping your body happy on a cold ride. Blocking off the road spray goes a long way.

We love building bikes that show there's no need to sacrifice beauty for performance and capability, and that rainy day's don't need to relegate you to your "beater" bike. We'd love to help build you a dream all weather bike of your own, so if you've got the itch don't hesitate to give us a call.
