The ask
We love when folks come in with unique requests. Brad hit us with "I want a single-speed titanium bike that I can ride on both the road and gravel."
Mosaic GT-1 AR
We used Mosaic's titanium GT-1 AR frameset as our base, with sliding drop-outs and clearance for 38mm tires. As badass as Brad is (I mean, single-speed on both road and gravel...? hats off) the thought process behind the sliding drop-outs would give him the flexibility to convert the bike into a geared set-up down the road if desired. Although judging from his current excitement level out there that probably won't be any time soon.
The paint
To those of you that are guitar fanatics, the Gibson Les Paul Cherry Sunburst probably already jumped out at you. Talk about art imitating art. Mosaic nailed Brad's inspirational request.
But there's more, so much more, when it comes to finessing the look. The Sunburst theme goes far beyond the paint itself. Note that the Chris King red headset matches the head tube color. The gold hubs match the tubeless valves, chain and bar-end plugs, as well as the titanium hardware peppered throughout the bike.
More than the paint
And we don't stop at color, texture and pattern matters too. The drilling pattern of the brake levers matches that of the disc brake rotors. One of our favorite "easter eggs" is the salmon-pink cog adorned by the (standard at AC) waxed chain.
A little chest pumping
We must share a self-congratulatory plug: words from Brad a few weeks after putting his bike through the paces. "Thank you for all your guidance and expertise throughout this process. I couldn't have done it without your project management of components, fabricators and taking an active role in its build. That's not something I normally see and it's refreshing and makes the process a pleasure. You have a good formula there [at AC] and this is one of the things that separates your shop from others."
Thank you Brad! So happy he now gets to dance to his own tune on his Gibson Les Paul Cherry Sunburst-Inspired Single Speed Mosaic Masterpiece. Try saying that really quickly!
