Description
Every rear disc wheel makes the same promise: more speed, less drag. Most of them deliver it by ignoring what actually happens once a rider and a real tire get involved. The SES Disc PRO doesn’t have that luxury. Built over a year alongside UAE Team Emirates-XRG and refined for the specific demands of time trial and triathlon racing, it takes ENVE’s proven Disc architecture and cuts 200 grams from it while widening the rim to work properly with 28mm tires, the size most of the field has quietly moved to while their disc wheels stayed designed for something narrower.
That extra width isn’t free. Derailleur clearance and frame compatibility put a hard ceiling on how far ENVE could push it, but within those constraints the result is a rim tuned specifically for the tire you’re actually going to race on, worth roughly 0.69 watts over the outgoing rear disc at the yaw angles that matter in a time trial or an Ironman bike leg, without asking you to trade away the stiffness a disc wheel needs to transmit power instead of absorbing it.
Weight targets are where most disc wheels quietly surrender, and ENVE didn’t. Even chasing a sub-1,000-gram target, they held the line on stiffness rather than hollowing the wheel out to hit a number, and the result still lands lighter than the wheels it’s built to beat. The INNERDRIVE PRO internals carry over the same hop-up kit as the 100 PRO: 40-tooth ratchet, light-action spring, PRO Ceramic Bearings, because a disc wheel with a sluggish freehub is just an expensive way to lose watts you already paid for.
Sam Long used the 100 PRO and Disc PRO pairing to set the IM 70.3 record and described the Disc PRO as “incredibly stiff yet super light,” which is exactly the kind of line we’d normally discount coming out of an athlete-endorsement deck, except this one happens to hold up. This is a wheel for the back half of a TT bike that already means business.
