BOTW: SARTO RASO GRAVEL, CHERRY BLOSSOMS

Above Category |

This week’s build is a Sarto Raso Gravel finished in a custom Cherry Blossoms paint scheme. It’s the kind of bike that makes you stop and stare, almost too beautiful to get dirty, and apparently even worthy of its own shop security dog. Thanks Luke!

As I write this, it’s in pristine condition and as clean as it will ever be. In a few weeks it’ll be lining up at an international gravel race, where pristine will give way to the realities of racing. That’s exactly what a build like this is for, to be ridden as intended, tackling big days and coming home with stories to tell.

Frameset

This is the wide version of the Raso Gravel, built for tire clearance beyond what most gravel platforms offer. Right now it's running 48mm tires, with room to go up to 55mm measured if the race calls for it.

The frame and seatpost are built in-house by Sarto, just outside Treviso. The Cherry Blossom paint scheme was designed and applied by our friends at Velocolour in Toronto. Video below.

Drivetrain

A SRAM Red mullet group handles shifting, paired with a Quarq powermeter.

The same Red calipers and rotors take care of braking.

Cockpit

The saddle is a Fizik Arione, sourced new old stock.. a model we still miss. Tape is black.

Wheels & Tires

Chris King R45 hubs anchor the wheelset, laced to a new set of DUKE Sierra 42 Aero rims.

Tufo's Thundero HD tires round it out at 48mm, with room to size up if the race conditions ask for it.

Finishing Kit

LOOK pedals, Arundel cages, Ceramicspeed Alpha bearings, and a full set of titanium fasteners close out the build.

Why It Works

The Raso was built to be light enough for a fast start and tough enough not to think about again once the gun goes off. Cherry Blossoms won't look like this by the finish line, and that's fine, it wasn't built to be preserved. Whoever's on it will be thinking about the next hundred miles, not the paint.
