Bike of the Week: Corretto, Color of the Year Edition

Anthony Little |

COLOR OF THE YEAR

Deep, dark, abyssian navy blue. It's one of our favorite colors, and one that's been on an upswing over the past few months. In some cases, its use is an ode to one of the cardinal rules of graphic design: "Never use 100% black". In others, it's an homage to the azure tones of blue, sedate and classy instead of bright and flashy. We might be jumping the gun, but it's our humble opinion that navy blue is destined for 2017 greatness, and this week's Bike of the Week is a direct testament to that, a classic Baum Corretto dressed in Baum's take on navy: Deep Crystal Blue.

Complimenting the understated blue hues is a hit of yellow and white, a purely classic color combination.

The build follows lockstep with the patina, proffering what remains our steadfastly choice mechanical groupset - Campagnolo's Super Record kit throughout.

Zipp 303 clincher rims are laced to the venerable DT Swiss 240 hubset, one of the most durable and steadfast available, balancing longevity with weight. Wrapping the rims is Vittoria's Corsa G+, one of our favorite new products of the past year.

The cockpit is painted in-house by Baum to the same exacting standards as the frameset, a mix of ENVE and 3T bits. Our house choice, the Antares R1, tops the pigmented ENVE post.
