The only problem when looking at a bike like this, painted this way, is, where to look first. The bike: a Sarto Raso in Tri-Composite flavor. The paint: a Velocolour Tour de Force.
“It was my 70th birthday present from my incredibly thoughtful, lovely wife,” said Mark, our client. “I like contemporary art and we have owned a Joan Mitchell, so it’s a little bit of a riff on her work."
We paired the main event with a Black Inc Aero cockpit, painted to match the frame, a Shimano Dura-Ace groupset, upgraded with a Ceramicspeed OSPW and bottom bracket, and Partington’s fine R-Series MKII wheels in 39/44 rim profile.
Noteworthy finishing details include the Fizik Vento Argo R1 Adaptive saddle (thankfully, shorter than the name), 32mm Veloflex Corsa Evo TLR tires, Arundel STR Mandible and our usual suite of titanium bolts throughout.
As to his experience with the bike and AC, Mark said, “It was a long time in the making. I visited the shop for a fit and ordered the bike at the same time. It is just terrific. I love the paint job and communication with Velocolour was great. They were very enthusiastic about the concept. The fit seems to be pretty much perfect. I love the way it corners, the drivetrain is really tight, and I love my new saddle. It was a totally different experience than any other bike I’ve ever owned. I’d recommend the shop to anybody: friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and encouraging. If I would have known, I would have done it sooner. It was fun.”
