We're always fascinated by the array of different backgrounds our friends and clients come from on their journey into cycling. Especially when they transition from other endurance sports. This week we are proud to share a fresh Pinarello Dogma F10 built for a former 8-year member of the United States ski team and a world champion mogul skier. Let's take a look and see what a bike looks like for an athlete crossing over from powder to pavement.
There's no denying that the sculptural body of a Pinarello F10 offers a lot of landscape for graphics and paint. This particular model features a fresh, alpine white as the base color, while all of the alternate facets and interiors are covered in a beautiful blue fade.
The aerodynamic influences are clearly evident, so to match that we mounted up a Zipp SL70 Aero handlebar. The white Fizik logo tape was selected to give a sporty, team look. Holding it in place is a Most UltraLite stem that matches the white finish of the frame and brings continuity to the aero headtube shaping. Out back, a Fizik Antares R1 saddle provides a perch for our rider.
The drive train is nothing less than Sram's flagship Red ETap group, complete with the matching Red crank and cassette. While wireless shifting won't help make you any faster, it's hard to imagine a more fitting group for a bike this modern.
Finishing off the gruppo are the super small Red flatmount calipers. It's always a tough call whether to go disc or traditional braking on a bike like this, but ultimately our rider wanted the latest tech and performance, so disc it was. Pinarello has done a fantastic job integrating the brakes to fit nice and tidy on their latest bikes.
Wheels were a pretty easy choice on this one. Few things rival the performance, price, and pro team aesthetic the way a tried and true set of Zipp 303s do. The latest disc versions, with fully dimpled sidewalls and tubeless compatibility, are a welcome upgrade. 404s would have been nice too, but the slightly shallower 303 proved to be the best option for versatility.
We're beyond pleased with how this Dogma came out. A high-performance road machine, fit for a truly world-class athlete. We're hoping he gets as much joy descending the slopes of Tam that his skis give him up in Tahoe.
