Twelve Days of Breathtaking Builds
Day 8 - A Punk Rocker's U.P.P.E.R

Michael Webber |

Is it a grocery getter? A scraper bike? A hard-hitting 'hood hauler? This Twelve’s build was one of the most fun and exciting projects to grace our workbenches this year. After receiving it’s ultra-unique paint treatment from our friends at VéloColour this rig came together with ample modifications and other one-of-a-kind designs. This Breathtaking Build began with a pair of Alto hoops laced to hubs from our northern neighbors in Petaluma: White Industry CLD hubs in hardcore black. What better bike to feature black-heart, black-soul wheels! Going with a flat bar to better navigate the neighborhood, demanded a clever mod on the brake caliper/lever configuration, mating a set of SRAM Red flat mount calipers with that same family’s mountain lever, the SRAM Level Ultimates. This is not your typical Open U.P.P.E.R. build, back to that paint and it’s ghostly wear marks and militaristic typeface, where does it belong? Where is it going? Instead of belonging in this holiday theme, perhaps it should be in the halloween top twelve!
