If there's one question we get often, it's, "Where are the Baums?" It's been a minute, but today we're excited to share our latest projects with the acclaimed custom bike builders from the land down under—a scintillating white Corretto. A purist's titanium road machine, with rim brakes and all the features that make a Baum great. Scroll on as we dive into this beauty of a build.
The Australian Ti Marvel
It all starts with the Baum Corretto frame. The longstanding flagship of their line up, and easily the most popular model we've built. Custom butted titanium tubing, hooded and relived dropouts, the iconic scalloped chain stays, and the undeniably masterful craftsmanship that is signature Baum.
A Mixed but Matched Cockpit
The cockpit is built up of a mix of 3T and Enve components. A 3T ARX stem, 105mm with a 17° drop, takes hold of a 42c 3T SuperLeggera handlebar. Those bars are neatly wrapped in black Enve bar tape. Also Enve, is the zero offest seatpost. While the front and rear may be of different brands, Baum ties it all together with custom matched paint. The final piece is the uniqe Berk saddle. Hand made in Slovenia, these carbon saddles are what weight weenie dreams are made of.
Wired by Shimano
The drivetrain is a complete Dura-Ace Di2 kit. Fantastically smooth shifting to complement the Corretto's refined ride. A pair of 50/34t rings sit on the 170mm crank arms while an 11-30t cassette provides ample range for any scenario. Rim brakes really don't get much better than the venerable Shimano calipers.
Laced Like a King
With a hand build bike we found it fitting to lace up a set of hand build wheels. At the center of it all sit a pair Chris King R45 hubs. From there, silver Sapim CX-Ray spokes hold them to a set of Enve 3.4 rims. They spin up fast, roll incredibly smooth, and with Enve's textured brake track they stop just as fast too! Our rider's tires of choice were a set of Continental Gatorskin Black Edition. About as reliable and durable as it gets, these tires are meant to go the distance.
The Finishing Touches
We're all about the details and this bike certainly wasn't going to roll out the door without some nice ones. A King headset keeps the steering under control and nicely compliments the R45 hubs. A Ceramicspeed bottom bracket gives the DA crank and little extra freedom to spin. Our final favorite bit are the Dura-Ace quick release levers. Not the lightest, but hands down out favorite for their incredibly secure grip and classy design.
Hopefully you're are thrilled as we are to see another Baum roll out of the shop. Clean, simple, and perfect in every way, this is one we certainly proud to send out to the road. If you've been dreaming of a Baum of your own, you've come to the right place. We're their premier North American partner and it would be our pleasure to help you out!
