Each day we deliver a Mosaic RT-1 is an exciting one, but what makes those days even better is when our out-of-town clients make the trip to San Francisco, where we share the pleasure of taking them on their inaugural ride while experiencing all of our favorite coastal roads. Case in point? This Bike of the Week. After going through our process of building a custom dream bike, John took a mini-vacation to visit us, get fitted on his new steed, and let us introduce him to the tarmac we know and love.
John comes from Illinois. He's a strong rider who has ridden many different bikes, and was looking for an uncompromising, high-performance build to take to the open farm roads that surround him at home. He loved the clean, simplistic look of the Mosaic, and upon seeing the launch of our initial three SRAM eTap builds he knew that would be the dream combination. Tubes are super cool and expensive.
After a few months of experience on the group, we can admit in full honesty that we love eTap. The performance is there and the clean, wireless set up is by far the most elegant way to build a bike.
Another highlight of the bike is the all new Zipp 404 NSW wheels. The NSW, "Nest Speed Works", is the new designation for Zipp's premium offerings. The rims are similar to the Firecrest but offer an even more aerodynamic Saw Tooth sidewall treatment. The hubs are an entirely new design, using magnets as opposed to traditional springs in the freehub, and a new Axial Clutch design for nearly dragless coasting.
Bold yet understated. A trademark of Mosaic Cycles. Their clean and simple finish work lets the craftsmanship and ride do all the talking.
An ENVE 2.0 fork mated to a 44mm Ti headtube, thanks to a Chris King headset. This is what come standard on All RT-1s, though depending on size an stiffness needs, you have 1 1/8", 1 1/4", and 1 1/5" steerer tube options. In John's case, we went right in the middle with a 1 1/4" fork that pairs seamlessly with the oversized headtube.
The newest Vittoria Corsa G+ tires are what keep this bike married to the pavement.
And finally, all of the touch points come from fi:zi'k with a full R1 carbon cockpit.
We pride ourselves on having the capability to work with clients worldwide. No matter where our people are located, it is our sincerest pleasure helping them put together their perfect bike to make the process of attaining a custom bike simple, easy, and fun. Not only do we love working with our clients through the entire build process, we strive to provide the absolute best delivery experience we can.
