BOTW: Pegoretti Marcelo — Rim Brakes Are Dead. Long Live the Rim Brake.

Chad Nordwall |

We've said this every time, but NOTHING beats receiving a box with a Pegoretti frame in it, especially one with a Ciavete paint scheme.
You have no idea what you are going to pull out of the box. I like bright bikes with colors that pop, so this one did not disappoint. This one went to Seattle and will help brighten up all those dreary gray days no doubt.
Frameset: This is the Pegoretti Marcelo in its rim brake configuration. Oversized Columbus heat treated Life tubing and a Pegoretti exclusive Chris King D11 headset that keeps the Pegoretti designed Falz fork in place make up one of our favorite framesets ever made.
Group: Campagnolo Super record mechanical group naturally.
Not so natural these days are the rim brakes. Every time we build a bike like this though, everyone who tests it comes back saying, "Why do we build so few of these now?" Another benefit of the rim brake setup is that we got to use Cane Creek's EE brakes. This time in a pretty, perfectly matching blue.
Cockpit: Lots of Bjorn going on here. Stem, bar, seatpost, computer mount and seat tube collar are all from our Slovenian friends. Saddle is from Form and the tape is tape.
Favorite piece of all this is the computer mount for sure. One of the best looking out there we think.
Wheels and tires: Campagnolo Bora WTO 45 wheels are paired with Challenge Strada Pro clincher tires and Pirelli Smartubes.
Other stuff: Time pedals, Bjorn bottle cages and many titanium bits and pieces round out this quite respectable 17.8-pound bicycle.
If anyone out there is looking to make our day you can do that by getting a Ciavete painted Pegoretti with rim brakes. Thank you NM!
