Behind the Scenes of Wertz's New Bike Day

Jim Merithew |

The long and windy gravel road to a successful new bike day video launch is much more complicated than one might imagine. The mulitiude of logistics is mind boggling. It starts by finding the perfection combination of bicycle and bicycle rider. In this case we are talking about the National Gravel Championship Brennan Wertz and his stunning 2025 Scott Addict Gravel.

Wertz worked closely with Scott Designer Lynda Maldonado to make this Red, White & Blue National Champion Addict look spectacular and to make sure his Marin home roads were front in center in the design.

"The details are perfect:from the fire lookout atop Mt. Tam to the poppies and salmon to the sea tube redwood tree," said Wertz. "She nailed it."

This frame is extra special with the fact the team at Spectrum Paintworks, the in-house paint shop at Mosaic Cycles, did the custom paint job. From the moment Brennan cracked open the Mosaic box it was love at first site. With Scott Marketing Director Garth Spencer and videographer Alex Colorito on hand to document the process it was clear something special was underway.

Above Category was excited to bring in their A-List mechanic, Robert Gee to build this one-of-a-kind beauty. All of Wertz's favorite bits were laid out: Ceramic Speed pulleys and bearings, Rene Herse tires, ENVE hoops, SRAM drivetrain, Orange Seal sealant, a new white Form saddle and some Arundel bottle cages.

After a day of torque wrenches, magnetic cable hunting and integrated headset fun we we were ready for a day of action video and Marin put on a show with a bluebird day. Colorito did an amazing job on not only dragging what seemed to be an 800 pound bag of gear up Mt. Tam, but also willingly chased Wertz off the mountain with a camera mounted to his head.

And what better way to end a weekend of "content creation" than a giant burrito and a cold beverage at Joe's Taco Lounge. We are excited to watch what Wertz gets up to on his Gravel Addict. Rolling into 2025 in style.
